MY 215

The best role in the music industry is the opportunity to be involved in the business and creative endeavors of crazy people who are driven to make art, and who trust me to represent their work. I am driven to connect and share the art I think is important with music enthusiasts everywhere.

This Spotify playlist is 215 of the songs I was privileged, honored and lucky to promote over the past 50 years.  It is not a complete list, as there were others that had to be left out, and some that are not available on Spotify.

Some of the albums found here had multiple singles, including records like Thriller which had seven Top 10 singles and set its own record at the time.

Looking back I cannot believe I was involved in so many beloved and successful recordings.  These selections are not in any kind of chronological order, or ranked by chart success or global sales.  Each song chosen has a story of interest probably only to me.  Some of these I had no idea what I was doing or the appeal of the song.  Some taught a memorable marketing tip, and some I was directly and personally responsible for the success.  Each one sparks thoughts of someone I remember, a time, a place, a season and a lesson.

I would suggest if you hear something you like that you dive into the album where the song is found.  Some of these were not 'hits' in the chart sense, but each one is of great importance to me in terms of what I learned about the artist, or about myself, the programming value to radio, or my own smug opinions of the track or the band.

Some of these artists like Michael Jackson, the Clash, Cheap Trick and many others have achieved streams in the trillions.  I find it particularly mindblowing that in some cases songs from 40+ years ago generate such interest still today, as fans reach for the song more than 1,000,000,000 times.
